Our first trip to Cozumel, and wow, did it live up to the reputation. As always, our October trips are special since October 3rd is our anniversary and October 8th is Brandi’s birthday, but this trip was made even more special because my mom came with us!
We could fill pages with a trip report of diving in Cozumel so we’ll force ourselves to be brief. Dive sites included Tormentos, Punta Tunich, Punta Sur Sur, Dalila, Cedral, Santa Rosa, Cuevones, Yucab, Columbia, La Francesca, Palancar Bricks, Santa Rosa wall and the Cathedral at Columbia – 14 dives in all.
Aldora Divers was amazing and our Divemaster for almost every dive, Adrienne, was so much fun to dive with. Our shortest dive was a little over an hour with our longest being close to 90 minutes.
Splendid Toadfish (only found here), eels, turtles, sharks, octopus, brittle stars, sea slugs, peacock flounder and some of the most amazingly clear water and panoramic underwater vistas you can imagine were everywhere we looked. Learn more about the Splendid Toadfish.
Since Mom doesn’t dive, we spent a lot of time exploring local restaurants and ate more then we should have almost every day. Lobster bacon sandwiches anyone? We also took Mom on the Atlantis submarine tour and she was amazed at everything we saw at depth and was thrilled she could see the same things we do on our dives, and the sub actually hit a depth of almost 110fsw.
We had so much fun on this trip, we booked a return trip almost as soon as we got home.
